Call doctor?

I'm m six weeks tomorrow and tonight I'm having light pink when I wipe. Do I call a doctor or go to the ER? Or wait and see because if I'm miscarrying there is nothing that can be done? I haven't had any symptoms this far but that is not unusual for me. The only symptom is my temp has stayed up and some uterine twinges when I get up too quickly. Please pray for this child. We've already had one previous loss.

Re: Call doctor?

  • Thoughts and prayers everything is alright. I'd call to make them aware, but don't go to the ER unless you are filling a pad an hour. Also, if you know you are a negative blood type let your Dr know that. If this would end up in a miscarriage they will want you to have a rho gam shot.

  • My doctor told me not to worry about lightly-colored discharge, and to only call them if it's red. If I were you, I would just try to take it easy for now, monitor the discharge color, and call if it turns red.

  • My doc told me that more than half of women bleed in some form during their pregnancy due to cervical and hormonal changes. Hopefully that eases your mind. I bled through my whole first trimester last pg, and I had to say this to myself every day. Granted, daily bleeding was a little more unusual, but my son is happy and healthy!
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)
DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18
FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • Im going through this right now. One day I wake up and see pink on the toilet pape the next day or even a few hours its gone the pink discharge never makes to a pad . But I wouldn't go to the ER unless your bleeding to the point where you need to change your pad very hour. Stay positive and keep and eye on the spotting hope everything turns out well for both of us
  • Are you on progesterone at all? My suppositories make it look pink the first time I wipe after using them. But even minor spotting is normal as the PPs have suggested. I would just relax and call your Doc if it gets any heavier or becomes a red bleeding.

  • FX everything is okay! I experienced pink spotting last week and was able to call and move my confirmation appointment up by 3 days just for some piece of mind. Turns out everything is just fine and I got to see & hear the heartbeat.

My doc told me that up to 90% of women experience spotting (pink, brown or red) and it's usually nothing to worry about unless you start filling a pad and it is accompanied by strong pelvic pain.

Try to drink some water and put your feet up. Hopefully it'll go away as quickly as it came!

  • I agree with all pp. Spotting is common in early pregnancy. There is lots of increased blood flow to the cervix during pregnancy, and it doesn't take much to irritate it. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Definitely not ER. They won't send you to the L&D area til you are much father along so you'd just have to wait a long time. You can call your dr during normal hours but I'm sure it's fine! Light spotting happens to most women.
  • Thanks ladies.

I tried to take it easy for the rest of the night. I showered, (tmi) gently swiped out my vagina, and put on a pad so I would know if anything new came out. I'm actually still in bed (Hawaii time) and happened to wake up before my BBT alarm. I took my temp anyway and even though it's earlier than my normal time it is up so I'm hoping that's a positive thing.

It's hard not to be concerned. This is my fifth pregnancy and I've never spotted before. Even when I miscarried during my third pregnancy I had absolutely no symptoms and only found out at my NT scan.

  • @o_so_in_love‌ T&Ps for you. I'm also having occasionally spotting - maybe once or twice a day, just a drop or two and it's super dark, always brown or rust colored. From what I understand this is totally within the normal range of symptoms. As long as it's not accompanied by painful cramps, you're likely fine.

Also may I ask why you're still tracking your BBT? I was under the impression it gets pretty sporadic after a BFP and temp dips don't necessarily indicated a healthy PG or MC.

  • I'm still temping because I read doing so for the first trimester is a good way to see a miscarriage. So far my temps have continued to be consistent since my BFP.

  • I know other sources say not to temp because of erratic temps but mine are pretty consistent. Also, my last miscarriage (I was not temping at the time) presented no symptoms. My baby was gone for at least a week before the NT scan.

  • So, no spotting this morning but a little more this afternoon. Went to the walk in clinic. My hCG number was 8850 which the doc said wasn't bad. She did an ultrasound which left me a little worried. I'm measuring right but we could barely make out something... She said she's optimistic and I'm trying to be too, but can't help worrying a little...
